Office furniture removal is rarely one item. A clear-out means desks, the pedestals that sat under them, a run of filing cabinets, a meeting table that was delivered in two halves and a stack of chairs that nobody wants. Send us a photo of the room, or a few photos if it is a whole floor, and we reply with one fixed price for the visit. Two people carry everything out, down the stairs or in the lift, and you pay once the van is loaded.
The pieces have their own habits. A bench desk unbolts into legs and a top and goes down a stairwell in parts, a steel filing cabinet is heavier than it looks and has to be emptied before it moves, and a pedestal with a locked drawer stays locked unless you can find the key. Meeting tables split at the join, and the wiring trays and cable spines that hung under the desks are unclipped and taken with them. A boardroom table and chairs or a tall storage cabinet are covered on their own pages, and on the same visit here.
We collect from commercial offices, shops, surgeries and schools, and from the spare bedroom that has been a home office for the last few years. For a working building we can come early, in the evening or at the weekend so the clear-out does not happen around your staff, and we work with a building manager on loading bay times and lift bookings where there is one. If you are comparing routes, our guide on how to get rid of old furniture covers charities, skips and the council, and will a charity collect my furniture looks at what charities take.
Furniture Removal holds upper tier waste carrier licence CBDU526130, registered with the Environment Agency, and we provide a waste transfer note on request, which a business often needs for its own records. Usable desks and chairs are offered for reuse first. Everything else goes to a licensed waste transfer station, where the steel frames and cabinets go to scrap, the desk tops and chipboard carcasses go for timber recovery and any glass partitions or table tops are kept separate for recycling.

Why people use us
Paperwork a business can file
Licence CBDU526130 is an upper tier waste carrier registration with the Environment Agency, and we hand over a waste transfer note on request.
Insured on commercial premises
The crew carries public liability insurance to £5 million and employers' liability of £10 million while working in your building.
One visit, one price
Ten desks and twenty chairs are quoted as one job from the photos, not ten separate jobs, and the figure does not change when the crew counts them.
Experience with the awkward stairwell
15 or more years in the trade and 500 or more jobs completed, with 90% of everything collected recycled and a 5 star rating on Google.
Clearing desks, pedestals and filing cabinets from an office
Desks come apart first. A bench desk is unbolted at the leg frames and the tops lifted off, cable trays and power spines are unclipped from underneath, and the parts are carried to the lift or stairwell in stacks. Filing cabinets are emptied, the drawers either locked shut or taken out, and the cabinet tipped onto a sack truck and wheeled to the lift, or carried by two people down the stairs if there is no lift. Pedestals go on a trolley four at a time. A meeting table is split at its join, the legs unbolted and the leaves carried on edge, since a top that was delivered in two halves will not go round a stairwell in one. Office chairs are stacked seat on seat and carried two or three at a time. On an upper floor the crew checks the lift size before anything leaves the room and uses the goods lift or loading bay if the building has one.
Empty the drawers and clear the desks before we arrive, and keep anything with personal or client data well away from the furniture that is going. Unlock pedestals and cabinets, or tell us the key is lost so we allow for it. Unplug monitors and pull cables back out of the desk grommets. If the building has a loading bay or a goods lift that needs booking, give us the manager's details and we sort the timing. For a home office, a line about the floor and the stairs is all we need.
Afterwards, desks and chairs in working order are offered for reuse first, which is where a lot of office furniture ends up. The rest goes to a licensed waste transfer station, where the steel frames, filing cabinets and pedestals are separated for scrap, the chipboard and laminate tops go for timber recovery and glass from partitions or table tops is kept separate. A waste transfer note is provided on request, and we tell you where the furniture went if you ask.

Office furniture removal questions
Can you clear a whole office in one visit?
Usually, yes. Send photos of each room and we price the whole visit as one job. For a large floor we tell you how many trips it takes before you book.
Do you work outside office hours?
Yes. Early mornings, evenings and weekends are available where needed, so the clear-out does not happen around your staff or customers.
Do I need to empty the filing cabinets?
Yes, please. A full steel cabinet is too heavy to carry safely and the drawers fly open on the stairs. Shred or box the contents before we arrive.
Can you take furniture from a shop or a surgery as well as an office?
Yes. Counters, display units, waiting room chairs and reception desks are collected on the same basis. Send a photo and say where the nearest door to the street is.
Will I get a waste transfer note for the business records?
Yes, on request. Furniture Removal holds upper tier waste carrier licence CBDU526130 with the Environment Agency, and the note records what left your premises and where it went.
Is a home office treated the same way?
Yes. One desk, a pedestal and a chair from a spare bedroom is a normal job for us. Tell us the floor and whether the stairs turn, and we quote from the photo.
