Garden furniture removal is the job that starts outside and usually ends up going through the house. A cast iron bench, a six-seat patio set with a glass top, a rattan corner group that has gone brittle in the sun or a parasol with a concrete base all sit at the far end of the garden, and the only way to the van is often through the kitchen and the hall. Send us a photo, tell us whether there is a side gate, and we reply with one fixed price for carrying it out and disposing of it.
Weight and awkwardness come in different forms out here. Wrought iron and cast aluminium sets are heavy for their size, parasol bases are small and surprisingly dense, a swing seat has a frame that bolts together and a canopy that does not, and a rattan set is light but wide and sheds strands of weave as it goes. Hardwood benches rot at the feet and come apart in the hands. The crew has carried all of these and allows for them in the price.
The alternative is the council bulky waste collection, booked ahead, with the furniture dragged to the front of the house for a set day. That is fine for a plastic chair and less so for a stone-topped table or a bench that two people struggle to shift. If you are weighing it up, our guide on whether furniture can go in a skip and the one on what affects the cost of furniture removal cover the trade-offs. We also take the indoor table and chairs or the old sideboard on the same visit if they are going.
Furniture Removal is an upper tier waste carrier, licence CBDU526130, registered with the Environment Agency, and that covers garden furniture as much as anything from indoors. A sound bench or table is offered for reuse first. The rest goes to a licensed waste transfer station, where the steel and aluminium frames go to scrap, the hardwood and softwood go for timber recovery and the glass tops are kept apart for recycling. A waste transfer note is available if you want one.

How a garden furniture collection works
-
Send a photo from the garden
Stand back and photograph the whole set, then send it through the form. Tell us whether there is a side gate or whether the route is through the house.
-
We reply with one figure
The price covers carrying every piece to the van and disposing of it, however many trips through the house that takes. It does not change on the day.
-
Book it in
Pick a day when someone can unlock the gate or the back door. We offer same-day or next-day collection where we can.
-
Pay once the van is loaded
Two people carry the furniture out, laying sheets through the house if the route goes inside. You pay the quoted price when the last piece is on.
Why people use us
Licence you can check
Our upper tier waste carrier licence, CBDU526130, is on the Environment Agency public register. Garden furniture leaves under it like everything else we carry.
Covered indoors and out
Public liability cover to £5 million and employers' liability of £10 million apply whether the crew is lifting on the patio or carrying through your hallway.
Recycled rather than tipped
90% of what we collect is recycled. Metal frames go to scrap, timber is recovered and sound pieces are passed on for reuse before any of that.
A crew that knows the back garden route
15 or more years, more than 500 jobs and a 5 star Google rating, with plenty of patio sets carried through kitchens along the way.
Carrying garden furniture off the patio and through the house
The route decides everything. Where there is a side gate, chairs are stacked and carried two at a time, the table goes last with one person at each end, and nothing enters the house. Where there is no side access, the crew lays sheets from the back door to the front door and carries each piece along them, with the table turned on its side to pass through the kitchen. Glass table tops are lifted off first and carried flat, because a glass top left in its frame flexes on the way through a door. A swing seat is unbolted at the frame and the canopy folded, a parasol is collapsed and the base carried separately, and a rattan set is picked up by the frame rather than the weave so it does not shed on your floor. On a balcony, the furniture comes down in the lift if there is one, and down the communal stairs if not.
Before the day, open the side gate if you have one and move bins, bikes and planters off the path. Take cushions and covers inside unless you want them to go, and tip rainwater out of chairs and the parasol base. If the route is through the house, a clear hallway makes the job quicker, and the crew brings its own sheets for the floor. Say in your message if the table is stone, slate or cast iron, since those change how many trips we plan for.
A bench or table that is still solid is offered for reuse first. Anything rotten, rusted through or brittle goes to a licensed waste transfer station, where the steel and aluminium frames are separated for scrap, the hardwood and softwood go for timber recovery and the glass tops are kept apart for recycling. Rattan and resin weave are sorted with the plastics. A waste transfer note can be provided on request, and we can tell you where the set went.

Garden furniture removal questions
There is no side access. Can you still take the patio set?
Yes. The crew carries it through the house on sheets, from the back door to the front. Say so when you send the photo so we allow for the extra trips.
Do you take parasol bases and cast iron tables?
Yes. Both are heavy for their size, so tell us what they are made of in your message. A concrete or granite base and a cast iron table are two-person lifts and are priced for it.
Can you collect rattan furniture that has gone brittle?
Yes. Brittle rattan is carried by the frame so it holds together on the way out. Any strands that come off are swept up and taken with it.
Will you collect garden furniture from a balcony?
Yes. Balcony sets come down in the lift or by the stairs, and we need to know which floor and whether a lift exists. Bistro sets and folding chairs are the usual items.
Does the furniture need to be dry or clean?
No. Tip the water out if you can, but moss, rust and sun damage are expected. Do take the cushions indoors if you are keeping them.
What happens to garden furniture after you take it?
Sound pieces are offered for reuse first. The rest is separated at a licensed waste transfer station: metal frames to scrap, timber for recovery and glass tops for recycling.
